Mechatronics Engineering
WebsiteOverview
- Mechatronics engineering is one of the largest, broadest and most advanced disciplines. Mechatronics engineers use mechanical, electronic and control principles to develop all kinds of machines and devices. We create systems and production processes that drive the advancement of technology and industry.
Field of mechatroncis engineering
- Mechatronics engineers analyze the motion from small particles to machines or complex structures. We observe natural phenomena to design, to optimize, to control and to analyze state-of-the-art machinery and electronics. Integration and fusion are the key roles of mechatronics engineers.
A practical integrated and convergence curriculum
- Mechatronics engineering undergraduate curriculum gives our students hands-on, real world lab work in addition to a strong background in theoretical knowledge. Interactive and design-centered assignments are creating diverse experiences that are preparing Tongmyong’s mechatronics engineers for the problems they will solve in industry and research.
Development of basic knowledge
- We educate basic knowledge in the field of mechatronics engineering through mathematics, science and liberal arts education and cultivate experts with efficient communication skills.
Cultivation of professional capability
- The department of mechatronics engineering cultivate professionals with engineering problem-solving skills through major education in the field of mechanics, control and electronic engineering.
Practical experienced
- We train mechatronics experts. They have creative and practical skills. They also have the ability to apply advanced convergence technologies through field-oriented and synthesis education that society demands.
Mechatronics engineers must have broader considerations
- Professional development also needs a broad knowledge of complex society, legal, ethics, economics, politics and international relations. These are having a significant impact on the engineering profession. Professional ethic, product liability, and design for engineering economics are included in the curriculum. Elective courses are selected from offerings in the area of technology, culture, communication, economics and humanities. Fourth year students are required to write a graduation thesis to demonstrate their ability to conduct research on a technical problem in a specific field and communicate the results of their research.
In addition, leadership and teamwork are expected of engineers. These are gained from group activities to conduct laboratory experiments, undertake various design projects, prepare reports and give oral presentations.
Students are highly recommended to participate in student professional societies and student projects.
